Medicare Open Enrollment Dates for 2027 Coverage

Medicare open enrollment runs from October 15 through December 7. During this window, Medicare beneficiaries can review their existing coverage and select the plan that best fits their healthcare needs and budget for 2027.

Beneficiaries should carefully review any information sent by their current Medicare Part D (prescription drug) or Medicare Advantage plans. It is essential to inspect these notices because plan details can change year over year. Even if a plan appears unchanged, your personal health needs or prescription drug requirements may have evolved, making it worthwhile to explore alternative options.

Key changes to look out for in plan updates include: * Premium increases * Deductible adjustments * Copay modifications * Coverage shifts and formulary changes

Free Local Support via Washington SHIBA

Navigating Medicare options does not have to be done alone. Washington State Medicare beneficiaries can access free, unbiased, and confidential help through the State Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) program.

Sponsored locally by the Orcas Senior Center, SHIBA is an informational service offered through the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner. Trained SHIBA volunteers provide objective guidance to help individuals navigate plan choices without sales pressure or conflict of interest.
